Fountain House Gallery’s “Small Works: $100 & Under” Presents Original, Affordable Artworks for Collecting, Holiday Gift-Giving
On view: November 4 – December 29, 2021
Reception: November 4, 6-8pm
NEW YORK CITY – Fountain House Gallery – the premier venue in New York City representing artists with mental illness – today announced the upcoming exhibition Small Works: $100 & Under. The show, an annual Gallery event, will open with a Reception on November 4, 2021, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and will remain on view through December 29, 2021.
For this year’s iteration of Small Works, the artists of Fountain House Gallery have created hundreds of pieces of original art, sized at 6 by 6 inches or smaller and priced at $100 or less. The exhibit showcases mini-collections of artworks, affording viewers a unique opportunity to experience individual artists' breadth of work. The artworks can be purchased “off the wall” and fit conveniently in a tote bag or briefcase. Over the years, this extravaganza has become a perennial favorite with art lovers, collectors, and holiday shoppers.
Small works can have a big impact, lending themselves to hanging solo or in groupings. Fountain House Gallery artists, who customarily work in a variety of mediums and sizes, continue to embrace the challenge of creating in the scaled-down format, unleashing their talents on fresh mediums and ideas.
Among the mediums represented in Small Works are acrylic, mixed media, fabric, and digital photography, with sculpture and jewelry pieces included in the mix.
This program is funded, in part, by generous support from the Renate, Hans and Maria Hofmann Trust, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the David Rockefeller Fund, and the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund.
