Fountain House Gallery Presents “The Written Word”
On view: January 12 - March 1, 2017 / Reception: January 12, 6-8 p.m.
NEW YORK CITY – Fountain House Gallery, located at 702 Ninth Avenue and representing artists living with mental illness, announces the upcoming group show The Written Word, which will open with a Reception on January 12, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and will remain on view through March 1, 2017.
The Written Word showcases artworks inspired by literary classics by authors including Emily Brontë, Ernest Hemingway, George Orwell, Edgar Allan Poe, Ayn Rand, and Arthur Rimbaud. The more than 50 pieces in the exhibition have been made on wood blocks of uniform size, displayed like book covers on the gallery’s walls. Among the mediums represented are collage, mixed media, acrylic and watercolor painting, and digital photography.
The Written Word is curated by Joyce Siegel, an artist and arts educator who works with not-for-profit arts organizations in New York City.
