Tony Cece

Tony specializes in what he calls “people photography.” Primarily self-taught, he has studied at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Cooper Union, International Center of Photography, and the School of Visual Arts. He is an experienced “street shooter” and worked for a time with noted paparazzo Ron Galella. Tony describes his style as “photo noir,” employing the dark exposures of the film noirmovies that strongly influenced him. His work was presented in the Fountain Gallery solo exhibition My View. Says Tony about his process, “I shoot by intuition. I feel the image and also see it. And when all of the components come together in the viewfinder, then I hit the shutter – not before or after.”
