Born and raised in New York City, Laurel works in mixed media incorporating found objects. She was introduced to the world of art through museum visits beginning when she was a toddler. Laurel began formal art training as a student at LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and received a BA from Hunter College with concentrations in ceramics and black and white photography. She has exhibited at SUNY Fredonia, Bread and Roses Gallery, Materials for the Arts and the Art Students League. The creative process enables Laurel to make peace with past trauma and mental illness, foster a sense of humor and bring clarity to this soup called life.
